If the AI system malfunctions or is poorly designed, it could escalate a conflict unintentionally, leading to unnecessary casualties or collateral damage. The potential loss of control over such a powerful tool could make accountability more difficult in the event of mistakes or unlawful actions.

2. Escalation of Conflicts

AI-driven weapons can make combat more efficient, but they also have the potential to escalate conflicts more rapidly. AI systems may respond to threats without human judgment, possibly misinterpreting a situation or failing to recognize the broader strategic context. This could lead to preemptive strikes, disproportionate responses, or even a miscalculation of an adversary’s intentions, rapidly increasing the scope of a conflict.
