After selling a couple more things on Craigslist, I ran out of things to sell in my room, but I still wanted to make more money online. So, I decided to create an ebook, a digital product on my computer that I could potentially sell millions of times.
So, that’s what I did next. I wrote video game guides and posted them on Amazon, another site I found to get free organic traffic from the Amazon search engine. Little did I know that Amazon had affiliates, so I was literally making sales online from other websites pushing traffic to Amazon and then to my page.
Amazon is a very interesting website with lots to explore because they sell everything you can think of. To this day, I still use Amazon for marketing research.
Back to what I was saying about posting video game guides on Amazon: It turns out that people were searching for the video game guides I was creating. This means I was getting free traffic when someone typed in, for example, “Pokemon Red and Blue video game guide.” When people searched that on Amazon or were on a web page about that outside of Amazon from an Amazon affiliate page, my ebook had the potential to be shown.
So, I kept creating ebooks about different topics and subjects and managed to make about $10,000 as an Amazon ebook publisher.
But I wanted to make more money, and I knew that my SEO traffic was not stable. Some ebooks I wrote became irrelevant as new video games and consoles came out. People were basically searching for new video game guides more than older ones. There was still a demand for older video game guides, but the newer ones were being searched for more on Amazon and Google.
