Creating a wooden storage bench with a lift-up lid can be a rewarding project, offering both functionality and style. Step 1: Measure and Cut Your Wood

- For the seat (lid): Cut two pieces of your 1×6 or 1×8 wood to match the width and depth of the bench (e.g., 48″ x 16″).
- For the sides: Cut two pieces of wood for the length (e.g., 18″ tall) and the depth (e.g., 16″ deep). These pieces form the sides of your box.
- For the front and back panels: Cut two pieces to fit the width of the bench (e.g., 48″). The height should match the height of the sides (e.g., 18″).
- For the bottom panel: Cut a piece of plywood to fit inside the frame (e.g., 48″ x 16″).
You can also choose to cut decorative slats or add trim if you want to give the bench a more refined look.
Step 2: Assemble the Frame
