What is electromagnetic torque

Electromagnetic torque is the rotational force generated by the interaction of magnetic fields in an electromagnetic system. This concept is commonly discussed in the context of electric motors and generators.

In an electric motor, when current flows through a coil placed in a magnetic field, the magnetic field exerts a force on the coil. According to the Lorentz force law, this force creates a torque, which causes the coil to rotate. Electromagnetic torque is a fundamental principle behind the operation of motors. For instance, in a DC motor, the torque produced by the interaction of the magnetic field and the current flowing through the armature leads to rotational motion. Similarly, in AC motors, alternating current creates a changing magnetic field that interacts with the rotor to produce torque.
